LEDs make a noon that does not come from the sky. The tomatoes look, if not happy, at least employed.

LED light is a different color than the sun you grew up under. It is bluer in a way that makes your fingernails look like they have opinions. Plants do not need a postcard sun. They need the coins. You watch a leaf and try to see stomata, which you cannot, which is the point of instruments.

Imani taps a gas strip. “People breathe out CO2. Plants in the light take it in. If we enrich Leaf Hall from the tank, we feed stomata. If we dump that tank into Hearth because ‘the whole base should share,’ we feed headaches. Split systems. Cousins, not twins.”

GROVE: “Leaf Hall CO2: low-normal for enrichment. Hearth CO2: people-normal. Keep the damper honest.”

You can enrich the greenhouse and keep the damper a damper. You can be generous to Hearth with a gas people should not drink in gulps.
