Decide & Discover The Atlas That Tries to Be True

You sit.

It is the hardest magic in the Spine, sitting, because the blank keeps offering a plot.

Ink tries. A reed sets. A wren-dot holds, then another. You are in the picture: a kid on the rose, Tansy breathing, Quill’s paper feet tucked. The Atlas does not need your sleeve. The legend of the straight road can keep wagons without your smear.

Quill’s voice, if Quill is there, is pleased in the small way. If Quill is not, the lesson still holds. Desire is a current. You just refused to feed the unknown a lie.

When the page pauses—there is always a pause, a breath in the binding—you can still see the margin where WASTE was trying to be official. You file it. You will need it if anyone tries to be a hero with a ruler.

The light has climbed a pane while you sat. Time did not stop because you were wise. It only got easier to keep a fen.
